KUCHIPUDI SIKSHANA
Personality development includes 5 kinds of development:
physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. Among all art forms, classical dance is an amalgamation of kinesthetic and intellectual expression. Nurturing and illuminating a comprehensive personality is the essence of this Kuchipudi training.
Main focus of the training:
Every student is trained in 8 essential elements of Kuchipudi -
Talam (timing), Laya (rhythm), Rupam (posture), Lasyam (grace), Abhinayam (expression), Sangeetham (music), Bhavam (meaning) and Rasam (emotion).
The structure of classes is tailor made according to the age, physical and mental abilities of the student. In order to fulfill the objectives of the training, each class comprises of the following schedule at the basic level:
15 min: Strength & Flexibility Training
50 min: Kuchipudi Class
10 min: Relaxing & Calming session
This kind of routine immerses the mind, body and soul of the student completely during the practice sessions. Knowing the context of dance is important; hence, the literature on Kuchipudi dance, sloka recitations and the meaning of the gestures (mudras) and expression (abhinayam) is explained which all together puts learning, a wonderful experience.
